Even though Robert Fischer submitted a nice 17 spot redfish in week one, Tim Cook had the most spots combined over five weeks which gave him the victory. He was rewarded with a Gill IN10 Jacket ($145), Simms Headwaters Tackle Bag ($79.95), a Charleston Angler Redfish Buff ($26), a Simms Hat ($19.95), and a D.O.A. Assortment pack (worth its $ in gold). Congrats again to Tim and thanks to everyone who participated in the tournament. We can’t wait to do it again next year!

Yesterday was the annual Capts. meeting for the 2011 “By the Numbers” Spot-Tail Tournament by The Charleston Angler. Last year’s event was great but was nowhere near the turnout we had last night. So far there’s been well over 150 people sign up for the tournament and just about all of them were in attendance! There was BBQ from Bessingers along with about 20 items that were raffled off. If you missed the shindig last night, no worries, you can continue to sign up all the way until the end of the tournament on Dec. 4th. OVERALL FIRST PLACE WINNER WAS 13 year OLD CALEB DAVIS WITH A WHOPPING 13 SPOTS!  Caleb and his dad Ron fished out of the Edisto Area. Ron caught a 4 spotter in week 2 but was beat by Tom Daly with 4 spots. Tom was fishing in the Edisto area also. You all might want to keep that in mind for next years tournament!  Caleb will receive $220 in addition to the $25 that he as already collected for winning the week 1 prize.

OVERALL SECOND PLACE WINNER WAS MITCH BARBER WITH 8 SPOTS. Mitch won weeks two and six fishing off of the same oyster bar above the Isle of Palms.  Mitch will receive $110 in addition to the two $25 gift cards that he has already collected for the two weekly prizes.

OVERALL THIRD PLACE WINNER IS CHARLES GRIFFITH WITH 8 SPOTS.  Mitch beat out Charles for second place by his earlier photo entry.  Charles will receive $55.

ALL REMAINING PROCEEDS GO TO THE HARRY HAMPTON WILDLIFE FUND THRU THE DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES FOR OYSTER HABITAT RESTORATION.  The fund will receive $165.

We have a few of the tournament t-shirts left over if anyone is interested in buying one. We really like the artwork which was done by our own Graphic Artist. Shane did a really good job on them and we’ll part with the leftover shirts for $10.
