CofC Student catches huge Redfish at Colonial Lake

Don’t be surprised if you see more lines being cast into Colonial Lake once word of Marcus Taylor’s recent catch gets out. And the good news is that it’s still swimming around in Colonial Lake.

Taylor, a rising senior at the College of Charleston, is an avid fisherman without a boat. So he’s always on the lookout for good fishing spots. A friend told him about catching big red drum (also known as redfish, spot-tail bass or channel bass) so Taylor decided to give it a shot.

He ended up landing a 45-inch red drum estimated to weigh between 40 and 45 pounds, which after a few quick pictures, was returned to the waters of the small lake located between Rutledge and Ashley avenues.
