Inshore- The Redfish bite has been great with artificials such as Berkley Gulp! Jerk Shad and Mud Minnows. Look for good “Tailing Tides” for Redfish in the evenings around June 9 – June 13 and again June 21 – June 26. The Reds will pounce on Gold Spoons and Crab Flies during those bigger high tides. Flounder are also being caught in good numbers using Mud Minnows as well. The Trout bite has suprisingly tapered off some since the warmer weather conditions have arrived, but be persistant, live bait such as shrimp
and Finger Mullet and some moving water should produce some action.
Offshore- Dolphin days are upon us. Small to Medium sized lures like Sea Witches and Ilander Lures rigged with Ballyhoo are the ticket. Look for weedlines or any other type of floating debris to locate Dolphin as well as variety of other fish including Wahoo and Tripletail. Billfish are starting to make regular appearences and will eat the same lure/bait combonations as the Dolphin. Also, keep a Horse Ballyhoo or a small Spanish Mackerel rigged and ready to pitch to an indecisive Blue Marlin. Blackfin Tuna have been fishing well too, using small lures and baits trolled a long way back in your spread. Nearshore waters are seeing increasing numbers of Cobia,
Spadefish, Amberjack, King and Spanish Mackerel.
Tight Lines,
Capt. Josh Whorton
