Low tide 7/3/10 AM

Went out fishing with my buddy Jon Hill this morning to take advantage of the cooler weather, and to beat the crowds to the water.  We got the boat wet just as the sun came up, and the tide was still falling out.  Not long after Jon assumed his place on the poling platform, we saw fish pushing and eating along the bank.  I was testing out a new pattern that i have been working on that I have yet to assign a name, and on the first cast into a group of hungry fish, it proved to be a fish catcher.

I then began pushing Jon along, he was also armed with the new fly, and a well placed fly in front of a group of pushing fish earned him a bruiser of a red.  I managed one more smaller fish before the wind and boat traffic convinced us to call it a morning.

It was a great morning fishing session, and a new fly earned its place among my others in the box, I call that sucess!

It has been great weather! Great fish, I am jealous. We went out a week ago and wound up with a whole bunch of nothing… but it was worth just being out on the water… the one thing I have patience for!
