FALL FISHING IN THE LOW COUNTRY
It’s the 2011 Fall Fish ‘N Fest!
You are all invited, so mark your calendars now for October 6-9, 2011. The next Nuts & Bolts Fish N Fest is on the way. And historic Charleston, S.C. is the destination!
It seems such a short time ago when the Nuts & Bolts family of friends, fans and fishers got together in Carrabelle, Florida for a weekend of fishing, fun and food. And fantastic fall fishing is just around the corner.
The early fall is an ideal time to be fishing the sounds, rivers and creeks around Charleston. Monster redfish, fat flounder and tenacious trout will be cruising the shallows getting ready for winter and eager to grab a hook. The topwater action is superb.
The trip to the fishing grounds is mere minutes from the dock, with the backdrop of Fort Sumter and the USS Yorktown over your shoulder. The Wando and Cooper Rivers, and their feeder creeks are outstanding fisheries this time of year.
And Charleston’s amenities are a cut above. There’s King Street and all it’s neat shopping, and The Old City Market with its local flavor and handicrafts just a couple minutes from our accommodations. Take a tour of a wartime hero — The USS Yorktown aircraft carrier or enjoy a carriage ride through the historic district. You’ll want to stay an extra day or two just to see it all.
Our official headquarters and accommodations for the Fall Fish N Fest is the Holiday Inn Riverview. They’ve provided us with deep discounts on their room rates, and it’s just right around the corner from the marina. Plus they have room to park boat trailers. Call them and say you’re with the Nuts & Bolts Fish N Fest to get our group rate discounts at 843-556-7100. The discounted rates are good until September 15th. So make your reservations NOW! You will have the opportunity to cancel, with NO PENALTY up to 48 hours prior to check-in, so there’s no risk. After Sept. 15, they go back to the regular rates. The Holiday Inn folks have given us an area on the top floor, overlooking the harbor, for our Friday Night Social Hour. Complete details for making your room reservations are on the FISH ‘N FEST REGISTRATION FORM.
The marina we’ll be operating out of is The Ashley Marina, just across the river from the hotel. They have transient slip space with power and water available. If you’re dragging your boat down, the contact info for making slip reservations is on the REGISTRATION FORM and on the Nuts & Bolts Website. For launching and loading, we suggest the Wappoo Cut Public Boat Ramp, which is less than a half mile from the marina. It has a good floating dock and plenty of turn-around space. Wappoo Cut is just a couple minutes from the prime fishing spots too.
We have two other awesome treats in store for everyone attending. The Captain’s Meeting will hosted by The Charleston Angler, 654 St. Andrews Blvd, Charleston. The meeting starts at 6:00pm and we’ll have dinner catered there, so don’t be late. The Charleston Angler team will be hosting our group for an evening of fun and food; and Charleston’s finest charter guides will be providing tips on fishing spots, tackle and rigs to use to catch the big one’s.
The final night Celebration Banquet will be held at The Charleston Crab House, one of Charleston’s premiere restaurants. Plan to come hungry for a great crab and shrimp boil right on their riverfront deck as we celebrate another great weekend on the water. We’ll be giving away some great prizes, and we’ll raffle off a couple of Coach’s Custom Rods.
You can pay online for your meals when you register for the event. If you live in the Charleston area, you can simply pay for your evening event meals through the Nuts & Bolts Online Store by clicking this link – PAY FOR MY MEALS NOW.
