Jody joined me for an early morning start trying to get the most fishing in before a negative tide. Fortunately, the redfish were aggressive right out of the gates and eagerly ate our artificials. We were mostly throwing four to five inch long jerk shad in grey and translucent colors rigged on flutter hooks. Put [...]

Staring down 20 mph winds with gusts over 30, we left the dock midday to fish the falling tide. After a choppy inlet crossing, we fished back in the creeks managing an eight pounder on cracked blue crab. Once the water had come out of the grass, we switched over to fishing shell rakes with [...]

What a warm Winter this has been and boy how the redfish have loved it! Started fishing at low tide this morning and founds schools of redfish 100+ strong. They were a little spooky and did not want much to do with our offerings. We moved as the tide rose and found a grassy bank [...]

We left the dock under sunny skies with temperatures nearing 70 degrees and no indication this was a day in January. Patrick wanted to fish for redfish on the flats so we timed the trip to coincide with low tide. Stuck a few fish out of the gates with artificials but they kept coming unbuttoned. [...]

Left at first light on New Year’s day to focus on the flats at low tide. Rolling up on the first spot, you could see pods of literally hundreds of redfish moving up and down the flat. Taylor put this nice eleven pound redfish in the boat right away. Then, the challenge began as a [...]

The Qualey family booked a half day charter for this afternoon and we set out to fish the falling tide. Caught redfish at our first spot casting popping corks and mud minnows along grassy banks. Moved to another location where the shell rakes were beginning to become exposed and the redfish more concentrated. Paul’s cork [...]

The Hamrick family joined me for a half day charter this morning. Facing a ripping tide that would fall six feet during our trip, we got to work quickly. At the first spot, our popping corks dropped as soon as they hit the water as redfish gobbled up the mud minnows under them. Once we [...]

With temperatures holding in 60s and sometimes 70s, Winter fishing has been great so far. Redfish are still very active and opportunistically feeding. Popping corks with mud minnows have been especially effective at all stages of the tide. Try throwing these along grassy banks and over shell rakes. With redfish now in big schools, you [...]

Started our trip at first light so we could get most of our fishing in before slack low tide. The charter started out great with a redfish on the first cast and it just continued from there. Caught redfish at every spot whether under docks, along grassy banks or over oyster beds. Mud minnows under [...]
